DISCUSSION: I had plans to procrastinate, but then I found something else to do . . .

Ahhh . . . I have been in such a blogging slump lately! And by slump, I mean that I am finding any excuse to procrastinate on reviews and posts. I schedule a few in advance when I am traveling, but then I return from my travels, my unscheduled posts run out and I have no clue what to do next. Well, that's not totally true. I actually do have ideas on future discussion posts. The problem is that I want to do anything else!

There have been countless times where I start a draft of a simple book review. I look at the blank screen and then proceed to open another tab to do whatever strikes my fancy.

Here are some of the things I have been doing instead of writing posts:

1. Check Bloglovin for new blog posts to read . . . I do this even if there were zero new blog posts five minutes before.

2. Check email.

3. Check Facebook.

4. Check Twitter.

5. Google song lyrics for random song I hear on TV show.

6. Google Youtube for videos of songs that I like.

7. My Budget (yes, I actually like doing this. I love working with numbers.)

8. Browse books on NetGalley or Edelweiss

9. Read (this one is usually last for a reason . . . as long as I am doing something on the computer, I don't feel it is out of the realm of possibility to actually finish my post.)

Hopefully this procrastination thing ends soon. If not . . . eh, at least I have a lot of other stuff to keep me busy!

  1. Hahaha, I totally understand! I find that social media totally gets in the way of my own reading and posting. You'll hit your stride soon enough!

    1. Breana, ahhh you are so right! I don't get sucked into that one as much as the others, but man when I do . . . I can spend hours there.

  3. Cynthia, it's summer, so procrastination is okay :) You're supposed to get lazy, chug down lemonade, and waste time on a swing (with a book - optional). I say, relax & enjoy! <3

    1. Thanks Ramona! You are so right. :) Plus, I think the heat of summer does not make for very much productivity. I just need to embrace it.

  5. I procrastinate so much, but I just try to push through it. If I won't blog then I'll comment back on posts. If I don't want to do that, I'll think of new discussion posts. If I don't want to do that, I'll read. :) I have back up plans!

    1. Thanks Rachel! I really need to focus a bit more. And maybe if I focus on blog related stuff, it will be somewhat easier. :)

  6. Ah. I don't open YouTube if I have to write a review or blog hop. I find I get zero done when I do this. Lol.

    1. Joy, youtube can be such a crazy time suck. And if you look at one video, they suck you in by giving you links to related videos. Ahhh, so crazy!

  7. I can totally relate! In fact, I think I go through this every time I try to write a blog post or even think about writing a blog post. I know it needs to get done buuuut other social media websites seem to call my name instead. Whoops! By the way, this is a great discussion post!

  8. Haha. I do all those things when I should be doing actual work! That and shop on Amazon. I spend so much time on Twitter when I'm supposed to be writing. I also get up, make coffee, because obviously I need coffee to get anything done. But then I finish the coffee and obviously I need more. It's a vicious circle. =)

Hope you get over your slump and awesome post!

    1. Bahaha Shay, oh yes a vicious circle indeed. I also shop on Amazon . . . mostly for books, as if I need anymore of those Ha

  9. Hey sometimes you just have to do something that isn't productive because your brain is full and refuses to work.

  10. Haha, I totally relate to this. I have a list of things I would like to get done each day, but sometimes I just find myself wasting time repetitively checking Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, etc. We need to form a support group :P

    1. Asti, if we tried to start a support group, we would probably miss the meeting because we would find something else to do. Ha

  11. Do you know what the worst part of this is? While reading, you gave me ideas to procrastinate, and I went and DID THEM. I saw "songs", and I wandered off for five minutes! And then I disappeared for another 20 looking for more songs AND hair colors.

But I do exactly the same things that you do! (Well, I do NOT look at my budget, because that would just be depressing, but everything else, YEP!) And I do the Bloglovin thing, almost WILLING someone to post something to I can run off and do anything else. It is so hard when you're stuck in one of those slumps. I can't decide if I am in one too, of if I am just too tired to care haha.

I do hope your procrastination takeover ends (or at least, subdues!) soon :)

    1. Bahahaha Shannon. That's hilarious. I love being a bad influence! Maybe it's the heat that's making us procrastinate so bad.

  12. I ADORE that blank picture - that pretty much says it all!! Yes, yes, yes to this post! You know I've just been getting out of a slump lately myself and I have found all SORTS of things to do rather than the things I should be doing. At least I'm not alone!
