DISCUSSION: Goodreads Shelves

I love lists. I make them for everything. So I am not sure why it took me a while to get on board with the whole Goodreads shelves thing. But when I finally did, I went all out. I recently realized I have seventeen shelves! (That number doesn't include my basic shelves of currently reading, to read and read.)

Here are my different shelves:

ARCs
 Book series
Books I have read more than once
 Books that made me laugh
 Books that made me cry
 Debut Novels
 Favorite Romances
 Best Families
 Five Star Reads
 Best Friendships
 Historical Fiction
 LGBTQ Books
 Mental Illness
 Nonfiction
 One Star Reads
 Retellings
 Ultimate Favorites

How many Goodreads shelves do you have?

  1. Wow you have a lot of good ones!! I have a bunch but are mostly reference for me - like which I own on kindle, which ones I own physically, ARCs , favorites. I like some of the ones you have - I might have to add them!! Great post!

  2. I must admit that my Goodreads shelves, much like my bookshelves at home, has become so out of control. I need a good purging. Oh, but I need to check out some of these books!

    1. Joy, you really do! :) I love that online bookshelves are so much easier to organize than physical ones. Ha

    1. Wendy, oh man! Seventy shelves?? That is crazy. I think I need to check those out. You may have a slight OCD problem, but I promise not to judge. :)

  4. How many goodreads shelves do I have? THAT IS AN EXCELLENT QUESTION. *dashes off to look* Omg...55 shelves!! I DIDN'T REALISE I HAD THAT MANY.😂 So I sort all my books by genre and then sometimes topic, like I have mental illness or disability or aussie authors or best of the year shelves too. And I have shelves for all the star ratings so I can easily see what books I usually rate what. haha. SO YES. Little obsessive on my goodreads organisation, but it's so fun right?!?

    1. Cait, that is crazy! So many categories. I need to go and check those out. Or maybe not. It may give me ideas. Ha. And one can never be too obsessive when it comes to organization.

  5. Well. Not necessarily proud of this but.... I have 65. Why? Why do I have 65 shelves? No idea! They aren't even particularly useful, tbh. I do have ones for every month (since mid-2015, I think), and the rest are just weird. Because I am weird, let's be real. I have shelves like "someone-else-read-and-tell-me-about", and "oops-I-preordered-you". Whyyyy? Yours are good, though! Yours make sense! Well done :)

    1. Shannon, oh wow that is so many! I have noticed you have ones for the year or month they came out and I just wouldn't have the patience to be that organized. Good for you. :)

  6. I have like a billion shelves. I sort them into genres and then things like "female friendship," "lgbt," "favourites," "made me cry" etc.

They're also great for keeping track of the ones I REALLY want to read. So I have a 2017 shelf but also a 2017 anticipated shelf, so I know which books to pre-order. Haha it makes sense to me at least :')

    1. Loony Literate, oh I like the idea of a 2017 shelf and a 2017 anticipated shelf! Those make a lot of sense. Sometimes I completely forget which ones are coming out soon (unless I see a review for it). That would definitely help with the preordering. :)

  7. YAY! I love love making lists too! Have 32, not including my year favourites/highlights haha. My lists are by favourite reads, ARCs, and a whole bunch of genres. I like that you have a bunch of "favourite" ones and an Ultimate favourite!!
