This is perfect timing since I am leaving this Thursday for two weeks of visiting my family in the States. I am not sure just how much pool time will be involved, but there are definitely several books I am planning to read on this nice vacation. Of course, we'll see how much actual reading I get done since my niece will be my little shadow. Ha.
1. The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
3. Poison Study by Maria Snyder - I'll be honest. When I first read this book a couple of years ago, I loved it until the end. Then it got kind of too fantasy like for me and I had no interest in reading the sequel. Fast forward to now and thanks to this blog and my fellow bloggers, I have been introduced to the Fantasy genre and I love it. I plan to reread this one so I can read the sequel.
4. Broken Monsters by Lauren Beukes
5. The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins
6. Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica
8. In A Handful of Dust by Mindy McGinnis
9. The Young Elites by Marie Lu
10. The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George
What books do you recommend for vacation reading?
Oooo love your choices! I really hope you enjoy the re-read of Poison Study, it's one of my favourites! I really want to read 'The Little Paris Bookshop' too, I can't believe I missed that one off my list!

Thanks Rosy! I am so excited about The Little Paris Bookshop. A book about my favorite things and my favorite city!
DeleteAHHHH I so want to read In a Handful of Dust! I loved the first book so so much (although I haven't seen too many rave reviews about the sequel, but boo, I don't believe everyone I'M GONNA READ IT AND LOVE IT ANYWAY). I usually spend holiday/vacations cleaning up the rabble I've collected on my kindle. ;-) I get in kindle moods and collect freebies and netgalley arcs and then...I lose interesting in kindles and just want my hardcover, so YES. Holidays = clean up time. xD
ReplyDeleteCait, part of the reason why I have held off on reading In a Handful of Dust for so long is because of the lack of rave reviews. But I don't even care anymore because I WILL love it! I loved the first one!! I have 95% of my books on my Kindle and I am ALWAYS trying to clean up. I have hundreds of books on it that I have not read yet. Argh!!! So many books!
DeleteI want to read The Art of Being Normal - I love the cover and it sounds so interesting!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Milka that is one that I am most interested in!
DeleteThe Art of Being Normal sounds one of those books which will really make you think. I'd love to read it one day :)
ReplyDeleteYes, Sofia I am really excited about that one more than any other!
DeleteOh The Girl on the Train was sooo good!! I haven't read any others but some look really interesting. I hope you have a lovely vacation!
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace! I have heard such great things about The Girl On The Train. I can't wait to read it!
DeleteThe Girl on the Train wasn't on my list, but Gone Girl was. Also, I've been meaning to read the Miss Peregrine's series for a while- is it any good?
ReplyDeleteGone Girl was so good! I hope you enjoy it. And yes Miss Peregrine's was a GREAT book! It was so different from what I was expecting. It took me so long to read it, but I am glad I did.
DeleteOooh, The Little Paris Bookshop totally sounds like my kind of read, I'll have to keep a lookout for it ;) The Girl on the Train is definitely making it on a few people's TTTs this week; a sign that I should check it out soon-ish? ;) Great list!

Thank you. I have heard great things about The Girl On The Train. :)
DeleteYou have some lovely choices here! I've read The Girl On The Train and want to read several others. Namely, Pretty Baby. And I've been meaning to try that Ransom Riggs series for a long time. Hope you have a great vacation!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kay! I can't wait to read Pretty Baby. You should read the Ransom Riggs series. It is so good . . . at least the first one was. Can't speak to the second one yet. :)
DeleteGood choices! I read and enjoyed The Girl on the Train. I want to read Pretty Baby too, and Maria Snyder. I actually enjoy a bit of fantasy but mix it in sporadically with my fave genre: mystery and suspense.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rita. I just got into fantasy this year, mainly because of the blog and all the great recommendations. I am looking forward to reading the series now that I will enjoy it a bit more.
DeleteNice list of books to read at the beach!! Here is a link to my Top Ten Tuesday post for this week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2015/05/top-ten-tuesday-ten-books-i-plan-to.html
ReplyDeleteThanks Captivated Reader!
DeleteI just read Not a Drop to Drink, so I can't wait to read In a Handful of Dust!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my TTT.
Lauren. Not A Drop to Drink was so good! I can't believe it took me so long to read.
DeleteGreat list Cynthia! I have Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children on my summer TBR, is Hallow City the second book?
ReplyDeleteThanks Claudia! Yes, Hollow City is the second book. The third one (and I think the final one) comes out later this year. I hope you enjoy Miss Peregrine's Home. I really enjoyed it!
DeleteGreat list, Cynthia! Have fun at the pool <3
ReplyDeleteThanks Ramona!
DeleteThat's a great to read list! I love The Girl on the Train and The Young Elites. And Mary Kubica is an author I really want to check out as she is getting a lot of buzz. The Little Paris Bookshop sounds great too. Hope you get plenty of pool time and reading time :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Trish. I am glad you enjoyed The Girl on the Train and The Young Elites. I am excited to read both of those.
DeleteI'd like to read to The Girl on The Train but probably won't get to it this summer.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2015/05/26/top-ten-tuesday-6/
JJ, there is always the chance I won't get to it either. There are so many books I want to read!
DeleteI should have had The Girl On a Train on my list. I have a copy to read this summer. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzi Q! I hope you enjoy it when you do get around to it. :)
DeleteHooray for rereading Poison Study! I love fantasy books, and this one gets an A+ from me. I haven't read the sequels yet though, for some weird reason. I also haven't read In A Handful of Dust yet, despite enjoying Not a Drop to Drink... I didn't love The Young Elites too much (Marie's other books are way better), but I hope you end up liking it more than I did. :) Happy reading and have a fun visit to your family, Cynthia. :)
ReplyDeleteAimee @ Deadly Darlings
Thanks Aimee! I have heard mixed reviews about The Young Elites. I loved her Legend series so we will see how I feel about this one. I actually read Not a drop to drink a while ago. I loved it, but have not gotten around to reading the sequel. I need to change that!
DeleteCan't wait to hear what you think of Girl on a Train - I'm really keen to read it. It's been getting a LOT of good press.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely holiday!
Thanks bornandread! There is a lot of hype around it. I just hope it lives up to it.
DeletePoison Study and The Young Elites! I need to start those soon, they've been sitting on my shelf for far too long!
ReplyDeleteHope you have lots of vacation time to read!
Thanks so much Cyn!
DeleteI haven't read any of these but they sound really good! Great list.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie!
