Top Ten Tuesday - Least Favorite Characters

This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. They feature a different top ten list every week. This week's topic is characters I just couldn't click with.

1. Scarlett from Awake by Natasha Preston - One of the most boring characters I have ever seen, plus she was obsessed with the fact that she couldn't remember before the age of four. WHO CARES???
2. Serafina from Serafina and the Black Cloak by Robert Beatty - I didn't really hate Serafina; I just couldn't connect with her. I think it is because she was only twelve years old. The book itself was pretty decent though.
3. Every single character from Those Girls by Lauren Saft - Every single character was just awful. To make it worse, there was zero character development.
4. Cody from I Was Here by Gayle Foreman - For the entire book, Cody was focused solely on her best friend's life and the reasons she committed suicide. By the end of the book, I knew way more about the girl who died than the girl who was mourning her.
5. Bianca from The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger - Bianca slept with a guy who she did nothing but insult. And she acted like a bitch to everyone for no reason.
6. Cia from The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau - She was such a know it all. It was beyond annoying.

7. Holden from The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger - Holden was whiny and pretentious and called every single person he met a phony. This book is so overrated.
8. Bella from Twilight by Stephanie Meyer - She bounced like a ping pong ball between Edward and Jacob. Frankly, I didn't get what they saw in her.
9. Anna from 50 Shades of Gray by E.L. James - Man, get a backbone woman! Seriously, if my husband (or anyone else, for that matter) tried to tell me what I could and couldn't eat or what I could or couldn't wear, I would have serious issues.

10. Cathy and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte Yeah, I know this is a two-in-one, but I hated them both. Cathy was obnoxious and selfish; Heathcliff was an abusive jerk. While we're at it, I would like to meet whover decided to call this a love story and punch them in the throat.

Who are some of your least favorite characters? Are there any on this list that you agree with?

    1. Thanks Grace! I was not a fan of Those Girls and it was 100% because of the characters and lack of development. I hope you love it though.

  4. I've only read Twilight and The Catcher and the Rye. I totally agree with Bella! I just wanted to smack her the entire time! She needed to get over herself. I plan to read some of the others on your list soon though!

    1. Thanks jazminjade. Oh yes, I have seen her on many lists. That is not really a surprise though. :)

  6. Interesting mix, Cynthia :) Haven't read the first few, and What's-Her-Name from Fifty Shades of Yuk ... well, yuk! Bella, misguided and lacking a personality, but at least she's consistent. Kind of like a dog with a bone... Holden, yep, definitely hard to digest. As for Cathy and Heathcliff, the romantic in me liked them. They were the greatest at causing pain, to each other and themselves. But I saw beauty in their madness.

    1. Ramona, haha you made me laugh comparing Bella to a dog with a bone. I guess when you say it like that, I have to agree with you. And I just couldn't see the beauty in Cathy and Heathcliff. I know I am a black sheep with this one because so many people love them. Oh well! :)

    1. Thanks Carrie! I am glad that someone agrees with me about Cathy and Heathcliff. It seems that way too many people love them. I thought I was the only one. Ha

  9. Thank God! I thought I was the only one who didn't click with Holden! Any time I brought it up people would get upset with me. So its nice to know I'm not alone. :)

  11. Ha, I hated Wuthering Heights because I hated Heathcliff and Catherine! For the life of me, I can't find anything romantic about that book. Yes to Bella and Ana (who are really the same character anyway)! I never liked Holden or Catcher in the Rye either -- looks like we're on the same page!

    1. bookshelffantasies.com, oh I know. Nothing romantic about Wuthering Heights at all. And it's not like I have to like characters to like a book. But I am wondering if I would have enjoyed the book more if I hadn't been expecting a love story. But no, there was no love story there. And no beauty. And I am so glad that you agree with me about Holden too! I think everyone was annoyed by Bella and Ana. But it's nice to have someone agree with me about supposed beloved characters.

  12. WE TOTALLY AGREE ABOUT CODY THERE. x) I just felt so angry and disgusted at her the whole time. And like how she really hated on the musician dude (I forget his name) because she thought he slept with everyone and broke hearts...AND HE TOTALLY DIDN'T. She didn't even give him a chance. I hated their relationship. So unhealthy and gahhhh. NOPE.

    1. Cait, oh you are SO RIGHT!! I just thought she was boring for most of the book. I couldn't connect with her because I never really found out much about her. But the stuff I did learn about her, I didn't like. Gah!

  13. Cia was SUCH a know it all. Can't she ever make a mistake?! I heard the characters from Those Girls were despicable. Bella is such a pain, a daft one at that xD

    1. Rachel, oh yeah the characters from Those Girls were awful. You are not missing anything by not reading it. And yeah, I just wanted ONE flaw from Cia. JUST ONE! I mean, can't she bite her nails or be afraid of the dark or SOMETHING?? Ha

  14. I read "If I Stay" by Gayle Forman, and I absolutely HATED Mia. I didn't like the book in the first place but our MC was so annoying!! I don't think I'll pick up another Gayle Forman book after this and knowing that there are more annoying characters ahead :P

    1. Olivia, oh I am so sorry you didn't like Mia. I actually really liked her. But if you didn't like her, I don't think you would like her other stuff either. :)

  15. Just nodding along with these! Seriously, can you even imagine someone telling you what to wear, what to eat, what to drive, who to talk to, WHATEVER? No. No you can't, because it's freaking 2015. Cia, of course, is the worst too. Ugh. She got worse with every damn book. Also, I don't think I would like The DUFF. Or Those Girls. Or Awake. Skipping them all, gleefully. Though I DO own Those Girls and almost want to read it for rage alone? Is that weird? Don't worry, I probably won't ;) Fabulous list!

    1. Shannon, I do believe if my husband had tried to control me like Grey controlled Ana, we would not be married today. I just don't get it. And yeah, I get the rage thing with Those Girls. If it is rage you are looking for, you will find it there. :)

  16. Bianca from The DUFF is certainly on my list of Bitches I Can't Stand. She certainly pisses me off. For such a great story, it angers me that a super shitty MC ruined it for me.
