Top Ten Tuesday - Favorite Nonfiction Reads!

This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. They feature a different top ten list every week. This week's topic is about favorites. By this point, I have told you guys my favorites in so many categories (all time favorites, WWII history favorites, favorite sad books, dystopian favorites, etc.). This week, I will talk about my favorites in a rarely talked about category: nonfiction.

I'll admit that I don't read nonfiction that often. More often than not, I find it dry and boring. But I do try to branch out every once in a while and I have found some nonfiction books that I love. Some are funny, some are serious, but all are amazing.

Do you read nonfiction very often? Have you read any of these? What are a few of your favorite nonfiction reads?

  1. I've only read the Diary of Anna Frank. That must be remedied, because the others on your list look very interesting too! Like Only in Naples and Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy!

    Great list!

  2. I used to read more non fiction, especially histories (American or European) but not so much these days. Only In Naples looks good (food lol) and I used to watch Chelsea Handler- i'll bet her book is funny.

    1. Greg, oh yes the food! That is what attracted me to the Only in Naples book too. I am addicted to books about food . . . mainly it's because I am addicted to food. Ha. And yes, Chelsea Handler's book is hilarious. Her show was funny, I agree. If you loved her show, you will love her book.

And I would like to read the Diary of Anne Frank eventually!! I actually feel bad that I haven't already. Erk. What is my life. What are my choices.

    1. Cait, no of course you aren't bad! I kind of have to force myself to read some nonfiction sometimes because I just love fiction so darn much. Luckily, I have read some pretty good ones. And I just read the premise for Furiously Happy and it sounds all kinds of amazing. I need to add that one to my TBR ASAP!

  10. Wow, I read a lot of nonfiction, but I haven't read most of these titles. I think I tend to read more historical nonfiction - Erik Larson is a personal favourite - or travel nonfiction - like Bill Bryson. Lots of great titles here, though!

  14. Yes to the Diary of A Young Girl!! I actually read that pretty recently, I think earlier this year? Also if you are an introvert, I would recommend Quiet by Susan Cain, which I feel like I have recommended to you before? But oh well doing it again!

  15. I love nonfiction books!! I read read nonfiction frequently. I'm currently listening to the audio version of The Secret History of Wonder Woman by Jill Lepore, which talks about the creator of Wonder Woman and feminism of all things.

Earlier this year, I read I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai, The Common Secret: My Journey As An Abortion Doctor by Susan Wicklund, Stoned: Jewelry, Obsession, and How Desire Shapes the World by Aja Raden, My Life On The Road by Gloria Steinem, & The Assassination of the Archduke by Greg King & Sue Woolmans... All of which were really good reads.

I loved reading Maya Angelou's book I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings and Anne Frank's Diary too.
