February Recap - The one where I come back from a much needed break

I am linking up to both the Sunday Post @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer and the Sunday Post @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction.

This past month has been a good one. I know I haven't been around for a while. Part of the problem has been writer's block. But I think a bigger part of it is just that I needed a break from blogging. Or maybe I have also been more than a little lazy.
We all have those moments every now and then, right? I think I'm back, but let's face it: I may get distracted again by a candy bar or a shiny new book. I get that way.

So what have I been up to over the past month?

1. Recovering from jet lag
I came back to Italy from a month long trip to the States a couple of weeks ago and I am just now starting to feel like myself again. Jet lag is a bitch.

2. Spending time with my husband and my dog
One month away from them is just too long. My husband said he is never going to let me leave him for a month again. And when I got home, I was only home for eighteen hours before he had to leave for a week long business trip! Argh! I missed my family terribly and I know that my husband was happy to have someone to annoy besides our dog.

3. Catching up on TV
A month without watching This is Us because I had to watch it with my husband . . . TORTURE. That is real love folks.

4. Reading

Of course!! Luckily, I have not been in a reading slump. I have read some great books over the last month and some not so great ones. Below are a few of my favorites. I managed to read fourteen books in the month of February.
5. 5. Dealing with change
I despise change. And it's not even an age thing. I have been this way for a long time. Four versions of the iPhone came out before I finally gave up my old 90's style flip phone. What can I say? The camera was awful and it took forever to type out a text, but I loved it.

So I was forced to get a new Kindle because mine was old and having issues. I tried to get the same exact one I had before: the Kindle Fire with 7 inch display. I thought it would be exactly the same. I. Was. Wrong.

It's more narrow than I am used to and the display is all different and the place where I charge it is in a different spot. Even the plug is irritating me because it's all different.

I'm getting used to it, but it was rough for a few days. Did I mention that I'm old and I HATE CHANGE.

6. Planning travel
My husband and I will be living in Italy for two more years. We are planning on taking full advantage of our time left. We are planning Paris in April, Florence in May, Scotland in July and a Baltic cruise (that will include St. Petersburg, Russia!!) in September. And I think we will be spending Thanksgiving this year in Budapest. Good times.

Okay, so I think that's about it for me this month. Hope everyone else has had a great February.

Talk to me! What was your favorite book that you read this month? Any trips planned? Do you hate change as much as I do?

  1. Sounds like you have been busy on your break! I liked Denton and Scrappy Little Nobody too. How good is This is Us??? I love that show. All your travel sounds AMAZING. Super jealous. Have a great week!

  2. I get you about change! Like, there's not a single vacation I can go to where I don't snot up and cry on the first day :D just because the room is so weird and ALIEN and all that. But most people don't like change. But maybe not as much as us :D
Sounds like it was a good month for you. I can't tell how many books I've read (although I summed it up in my last post, is my memory really that short..?), but I can't say it's been better than January in terms of numbers. Best book, hmm... I liked Beside the Music which I just finished (will be interviewing the author!), and I enjoyed Redshirts by Scalzi. Anything farther than that I don't remember :D maybe I really do need sum-up posts beside my bookhaul posts, haha :)

  3. Sounds like great things happening to you!! Happy March!

  4. Wow! A lot of things have been happening with you, but glad to see you back blogging again!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

  5. A month is a long time away and jet lag- ugh. Glad to see you back though! And New Girl- that show is fun but I just haven't had time to keep up on it.

Ha ha about change. Adapting to new phones is the worst.

  6. Gah. I don't think I would've survived being away from my husband for that long, to tell you the truth. I remember going away for two weeks, and I swear I was homesick already and my plane hasn't left. LOL.

Anyway, look at all the places you'll be! Take some pictures for us. :D

  7. Oh my gosh, your planned travels sound wonderful! I am on a bit of a hiatus from travelling right now so sadly I don't have any trips planned. I love that you've got three of Schwab's books as your favourites from the past little while. I am interested in The Archived, but I don't want to be left hanging by the second book...

  8. I am so jealous for all the traveling you get to do. I'm glad that you're utilizing your last two years well!!

  9. I love changing places and travelling as much as I can, but I like my routines to stay the same while I do so. One of the great joys of our caravan is having my essential stuff to hand. And I'm dreading the day my Kindle fire expires!

  10. As a South African traveling is a huge luxury because of our currency's poor exchange rate so I am so fortunate that my husband is working on contract in South East Asia and I am tagging along getting all the benefits of seeing another part of the world.

  11. Welcome back! Your travel plans sound awesome. I’m envious!

  12. I love your travel plans too! I'd love to see more of the world, but will wait until we are empty nesters here. I see you have pictures of many books I can't wait to read. And Monsters Inc. with Boo is one of my most rewatched films so I love this gif.

  13. I definitely hate change just as much as you do. And awe I'm so jealous of your travels, me and my best friend were planning a trip to Costa Rica but that got cancelled :(
I hope March is good to you.
