This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. They feature a different top ten list every week. This week's topic is top ten books I would love to see a movies or TV shows.
First of all, I am usually equal parts excited and terrified when a book I love is being made into a movie or TV show. But these are books that, if they are done right, would be amazing on the big screen!
1. The Gone series by Michael Grant
If you know me at all, it will be no surprise that this is my #1 pick! This is one of my favorite series ever and I would love for it to become a TV series. And if a recent tweet by Michael Grant is any indication, it may just become a thing.
Cue insane fangirl squealing!!
2. The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay - This is one of my favorite books so I am hesitant to put it on the list. I would be terrified if a movie would ruin it, but I think it could be a good one.
3. All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr - This was such a beautiful book. It would make an excellent movie.
4. The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer - I know I haven't read the entire series yet, but really . . . this could be a great movie or TV show!
5. The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black - I loved the faerie world that Holly Black created. I would love to see it come to life.
6. The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes - If you haven't read this one, what are you waiting for?!? It is an amazing work of historical fiction and the best part is that it takes place in Paris! Movie please!!
7. Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel - I loved this dystopian novel and the best part was that it is a stand alone. So if it is made into a movie, there would only be one. And I think it would make a great one!
8. You by Caroline Kepnes - Yep, love this book. I know that making a movie might be a bit tricky since the entire book is in third person. It is basically Joe talking (in his mind) to his obsession. But I am confident it could be done!
9. I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios - This was an amazing book and I would love to see Skylar and Josh on the big screen!
10. Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill - This book was so incredibly creepy, but powerful. Yes, please make this one into a movie!
What book would you want made into a movie or TV show? Do you agree with any of these?

I had the Girl You Left Behind as well - Such a great book! Station Eleven is such a good pick too. I haven't read You yet but I own it so looks like I need to get to it soon. Great list!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace. I hope you get to You soon. It was so good!!!
DeleteLove your choices! Holly Black's books would be incredible on screen - I've picked another of her series for my list, but you're right, The Darkest Part of the Forest really lends itself visually to be a movie.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
Thanks Rosy! Holly Black is amazing.
DeleteI've meant to read that Gone series. Putting it on my list right now.
ReplyDeleteKay, yes READ IT NOW. Haha
DeleteI must read The Gone series and a few others that I see popping up on other folks' read lists: Only Ever Yours, I'll Meet You There, The Darkest Part of the Forest... what a great TTT today that I missed out on writing, and some great book to movie ideas you have here, so thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Rita! So happy to add even more books to your TBR. :)
DeleteNice picks! You by Caroline Kepnes has been on my TBR list for ages, and I'm also curious to see how it'll be on screen if it's ever made into a movie/TV show.
ReplyDeleteJocelyn @ Jooniel Obsesses over Stories
Thanks Jocelyn. I really hope you see You soon. It was so incredibly good!
DeleteI would absolutely love to see The Lunar Chronicles as a movie! It's pretty popular. Maybe it will happen!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT!
Oh yes, fingers crossed that it happens!!
DeleteI haven't read most of these, but they all look great. I've got some on my to-read list already. I loved Cinder, need to get going on the rest of that series...

Oh yes, you must get to the rest of the series. I was not sure how Marissa Meyer would top Cinder. But each book in the series just gets better and better.
DeleteI haven't read all of these, but I agree with your choices for the ones I did read. Only ever yours would scare people's pants right off :D
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Ramona! Only Ever Yours was really good, but it was crazy scary too!
DeleteI pretty much agree with all of these that I've read. The Darkest Part of the Forest would be awesome and creepy!!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Thanks Nicole!
DeleteI fully support the Lunar Chronicles! I've only read the first two books, but I could definitely see the series as a tv series at some point in the future (fingers crossed!)
ReplyDeleteOlivia @ Brewing Up Books
Yes Olivia, my fingers are crossed HARD!!! Cress was awesome as well. I can't wait until Winter comes out!
DeleteThe Gone series by Michael Grant was amazing! I'd love to see that turn into a tv series as well. ;)
ReplyDeleteJoy, I am so glad you loved it also! That is one series that just does not get enough love.
DeleteThe Lunar Chronicles for the win! I would champion that idea any day, like a friend recently mentioned, let's start a petition yeah? Ha ha ha :D
ReplyDeleteYes, Claudia!! I would sign that petition in a heartbeat!!
DeleteOmg, Only Ever Yours would be TERRIFYING. But also good. I don't know how well it'd go over, though...but stillllll. That book disturbed me so much. AND I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE GONE AS A TV SHOW, OBVIOUSLY, TOO. FJDSLKAD I REALLY HOPE IT HAPPENS. I can totally see You as one. By the people who did Gone Girl. :O
ReplyDeleteCait, I AM CROSSING MY FINGERS SO HARD FOR GONE!!! Man, that would be an AMAZING TV show!!! Only Ever Yours was amazing, but awesome hella scary. I can only imagine it as a movie!
DeleteI agree with The Lunar Chronicles! <3 I've caught up with the series (except the novella) and I'm sure the last book will be amazing too! Plus the story is really unique and I would LOVE to see how people will make this look amazing on the big screen. I've also heard the best things about I'll Meet You There and I can't wait to read it myself. <3 Awesome picks, Cynthia!
ReplyDeleteAimee @ Deadly Darlings
Thanks so much Aimee! Fairest (the novella) is the only one in the series I haven't read also. I am BEYOND EXCITED for Winter!!
DeleteLunar Chronicles was on my list as well! It seems like it would translate really well to the big screen. I've heard great things about "All The Light We Cannot See", and it sounds up my alley so I really need to get on that!
ReplyDeleteEmma, you really need to read All the Light We Cannot See! I read it last year and it still resonates with me.
DeleteOooh The Darkest Part of the Forest could be REALLY COOL. I didn't love the book, but I did love the world, and the modern/fairytale setting :)
ReplyDeleteLoony Literate, Holly Black rocks at world building!! It would be amazing, that is for sure.
