Top Ten Tuesday - 2016 Books I Am Drooling Over

This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. They feature a different top ten list every week. This week's topic is top books I am anticipating for the rest of 2016.

There are so many great looking books came out this year! I have divided this list into two categories: sequels and stand-alones. The links will take you to that book's Goodreads page.

Sequels

1. Shiny Broken Pieces (Tiny, Broken Things #2) by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton

2. The Midnight Star (The Young Elites #3) by Marie Lu

3. A Torch against the Night (An Ember In The Ashes #2) by Sabaa Tahir

4. Gemina (The Illuminae Files #2) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

5. Blood for Blood (Wolf by Wold #2) by Ryan Graudin

6. Tales of the Peculiar by Random Riggs

Stand-alones
1. Heartless by Marissa Meyer - An Alice and Wonderland retelling by Marissa Meyer? YES PLEASE!

2. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake - A new fantasy series where three sisters (triplets!) must battle to the death for the crown.

3. The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron - I loved Rook, so I am super excited for her new release.

4. One Half From The East by Nadia Hashimi - This book is set in Afghanistan and it's about a preteen girl who starts dressing like a boy to bring the family luck. This one sounds so interesting!

5. Look Both Ways by Alison Cherry - The story of a girl who goes to a summer theatre camp, only to fall for her roommate.

6. Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body by Roxane Gay - I absolutely love Roxane Gay's writing and I am so excited for her memoir.

What books are you most excited about for the rest of 2016?

    1. Loony Literate, I KNOW!! I think I have you to thank for reading the first one in the series. I saw your rave review and just knew I had to have it. It was so good and I am so excited for the sequel!! And if a birthday isn't a good enough reason to treat yourself to some preorders, then what is? :)

    1. Grace, so glad to hear that. Look Both Ways looks so good. Roxane Gay is an amazing author! Of course, I just heard there has been a delay with the publication of Hunger. Sad. But I am sure it will be amazing when it is finally published.

    1. Krista, Isn't it amazing!!! The Forgetting is about a town where every twelve years there is a day of the forgetting where people lose their memories and they can basically do anything they want for a day or something. Sounds really interesting!

  5. Great books coming up! I have the Peculiar book on my list too, and dropped Heartless at the last minute only because I didn't have room -- I definitely want to read it! I suppose I really should read Illiminae finally now that the sequel is coming out. :)

    1. Lisa, I do think Heartless is one of the ones I am most looking forward to. And you really need to read Illuminae. I read it this year and it is still the most action packed book I have read this year. So good!

  6. I picked up The Forgetting at BEA. I didn't realize that it was the same author as Rook. I haven't read that one, but I've seen it mentioned. Hmm. I may have to check out that book now too.

  11. Is it odd that I'm looking forward to reading Blood for Blood even though I haven't read Wolf by Wolf? How's that for marketing? Lol.

    1. Hahahah Joy, that's good marketing! You should read Wolf by Wolf. I read it a month or so ago and I loved it so much.

  12. Shiny Broken Pieces caught my eye but at this stage I can't remember any of book 1, except that those girls were ruthless! Love the cover for The Forgetting. At the moment I'm reading more older books than new books so haven't really paid much attention to what's coming out. There are some beauties though!

    1. Trish, don't you hate when that happens with a sequel?? I remember some things from the first one, but I am sure it will come back to me when I am reading the sequel. That's usually how these things work. :)

  15. I need to check out Look Both Ways, because I've been seeing it around, but never fully looking into it! Oh I had no idea Sharon Cameron wrote Rook! I DNFed that one (but only because the library wanted it back) so I hope I like the Forgetting more!

    1. Valerie, oh that is so sad that you couldn't finish Rook! I am really looking forward to The Forgetting. I hope it lives up to the hype!
