I absolutely love this readathon. I always have so much fun and I am so excited to host one of the challenges, a villain mash up, as well as a giveaway.
Villains are my favorite people in books. They just make books more interesting, don't they?
Here are the rules for the challenge:
- Pick villains from two different books that you would love to see fight each other. It can be from any genre and it doesn't even have to be a physical fight. It could be a verbal one as well.
- Give a short reason why you think these villains should fight each other
- You don't have to have a blog to do this challenge. You could tweet it or instagram it or even leave it in the comments. If you do tweet it, don't forget to mention me (@bingeingonbooks) and use the hashtag #villainmashup
- You must be a Bout of Books participant AND you must do this challenge to be eligible for the giveaway.
For my answer, I choose Amarantha from A Court of Thorn and Roses by Sarah J. Maas and Adelina from The Young Elites series by Marie Lu.
How cool would a fight between these two women be??
Both women have amazing powers. I know we don't know a lot about the character of Amarantha yet (other than the fact that she is crazy and evil), but I still find her a bit interesting. Adelina is just coming into her powers and they keep getting better and better. Maybe it's not entirely fair to call her a villain since she tries to do things for the right reason, even if things sometimes go awry. But the darker her powers get, the more she thirsts for power and the more she tries to rule everyone around her for her own gain, not just anyone else's. I have no idea who would win in this fight, but I would love to find out!
You don't have to enter your link here to enter the giveaway. It's just another way to spread the Bout of Books love and see each other's answers!
For participants of this challenge, I have a
special giveaway. I will be giving away a book of your choice from The Book
Depository (valued up to $15 USD). The giveaway is international, as long as The Book
Depository ships there free of charge (find that out here!) The challenge and giveaway
will run until 12:00am CST on January 8, 2016. I will randomly choose a winner
on January 9, 2016. I will send an email to the winner and if I don't hear from
the winner within 48 hours, I will choose another one.
Good luck!
I had to think hard for this one. lol
ReplyDeleteBahahaha Vonnie. I know, right? That was the point. :)
DeleteThat was fun! Thanks for the challenge.
ReplyDeleteThank you for participating Jamie!
DeleteThis was hard, but I chose Randall Flagg (or Walter o'Dim) from Stephen King's The Dark Tower series and from his other books too and the other villain I chose is Cercei from The Song of Ice and Fire. Flagg travels a lot, so I imagine he goes to offer his help to Cercei, but in the end turns against her (because he is evil) and then they try to kill each other (Flagg by using magic and Cercei by using others and her smarts).
ReplyDeleteOh man slipperbunny, that matchup sounds amazing! I would love to see Cercei fight anyone. Great job!
DeleteOoh yes I heard Adelina is a true badass! I'm about to start TYE, can't wait to meet her :D
ReplyDeleteIt's such an amazing series and she is an awesome character. Hope you love her!
DeleteOoooh Victoria from Twilight against Lestat (interview with a vampire)
ReplyDeleteSure she is fast, but Lestat is patient. He would wait an eternity for Victoria to get tired then crush her like a bug.
Of course, being a dystopian Addict I don't really have many solid "villains" to choose from. Anyone else noticed the lack of someone to hate other than society itself?
Tracy, that is such a great mashup!! I think I would be rooting for Victoria, but you are right about Lestat. He would probably win because he would just wait her out. You are right that sometimes there is no pure villain in dystopian novels. I read so many of them. But President Snow from Hunger Games does come to mind. I think he is pretty evil. :)
DeleteThis was was fun. Immediately 2 villians came to mind and they are from totally different genres but I really think it would be a cool battle. Thanks for the #boutofbooks challenge and giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Lavendar!
DeleteGreat challenge! I went with Dolores Umbridge from HP and Jannoula from Shadow Scale, just because I want her to take Umbridge out and that would be much more satisfying coming from someone Umbridge would call a "half-breed."
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah! That does sound like it would be quite the battle. :)
DeleteFirst off... I am going to cheat :) I would love to Levana from the Lunar Chronicles and Regina from The Once Upon A Time TV show! I do believe Regina would win ;) But I think it would be a really interesting fight... Levana with her glamour and Regina with her magic! Okay my real answer... This is going to be really weird! But Levina from the Lunar Chronicles and President Snow from the Hunger Games! And a verbal fight... I also think they might side together too! THey are both really messed up... #boutofbooks #villainmashup
ReplyDeleteSierra, I like the way you think. I am kind of obsessed with Once Upon A Time so I will take it. Man, I would root for Regina so hard. I have no doubt she would destroy Levana. That would be a great match! Hey, let's try to make that happen. :) And yeah, I could see Levana and President Snow battling it out too. Those are two of my favorite series and two of my favorite villains. God, I would pay to see them work together, only to cross each other and destroy themselves. Ha.
DeleteI enjoyed myself so much doing this challenge, oh my God. xD
ReplyDeleteSo I picked Levana from The Lunar Chronicles series and Voldemort from Harry Potter. Run for your lives, guys!!
I’m sure at some point they would engage in a physical fight, since they’re both so powerful and get angry so easily, but first and foremost I’d love to see a verbal fight because these two are so arrogant, so vain, so insane and have such huge egos, I’m sure the fight would be an absolutely epic thing to behold.
Imagine Voldemort somehow manages to survive that last battle with Harry and comes back to life in The Lunar Chronicles time and space. Because he never learns anything from previous experiences, he tries to take over the world—wizard and human’s—again, but get in line, Levana says. Aaaaand they fight.
Also on my blog
jen7waters, I am so glad you enjoyed it! I love villains, so I am happy you are having fun with it. :) And that would be the best mashup. Love it! Yeah, the verbal sparring would be ALMOST as entertaining as the physical fight itself.
DeleteWhat a fun challenge! I think I would choose Jeanine Matthews, the Erudite leader from Divergent, and President Coin from The Hunger Games. They are both really sneaky villains and think they're doing the best thing. They are both very intelligent women in positions of power and have become corrupt. I think it would be really interesting to stick them in a room together and see what happens :P
ReplyDeleteBeth, that would be such a great fight! I love both of those villains in the best possible way. Girl fight! Ha. I would totally be rooting for Levana though. She is so evil, but I still kind of love her.
DeleteI really had to think about this one! I never noticed that most of the books I read don't have villains.
ReplyDeleteReno, I'm glad I made you think. :) Sometimes it's just funny the bad people that instantly come to mind when you do a challenge like this one. Haha
DeleteWould love to see a battle between Levana from the Lunar Chronicles and Adelina from The Young Elites!
ReplyDeleteHey, I didn't get my link up in time but here it is! :D
