Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer

I don't know about anyone else, but this has been a CRAZY week!

Here are a few snippets from my life this week:
  • Me and the other people who live in my housing complex have been trying to get our landlord to switch Internet providers for weeks to get a faster speed. They finally decided to install the new Internet service this week. Well . . . this is Italy and workers are not known to be efficient. My Internet went down on Monday and we didn't get it back until Thursday! Arghhh!
  • On Friday, my power went out for about five hours for no reason. So no Internet and no TV. Insanity. Yeah, that happens occasionally in Naples also. Man, I love this country but it does have its flaws. Anyway, if it is taking me a while to respond to your comments, that is why. I am still playing a bit of catch up.
  • My husband left yesterday for a business trip to Seattle. I am almost positive that my dog misses him just a little bit more than I do. Last night, every time I went towards the window or the door, Callie would jump up and run to her spot by the window to see if he was there. It was both adorable and sad at the same time.
  • The upside to my husband's trip is I will get plenty of uninterrupted reading time! I am also able to catch up on the shows I watch that he does not: Scandal, Once Upon A Time, and Law and Order: SVU.
  • Thanks to A Different Blue by Amy Harmon, I am finally out of my reading slump! Yay to enjoying reading again!
This week, I posted a top ten list of my favorite inspiring bookish quotes.

I also posted book reviews for House of Echoes by Brendan Duffy and Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill.

I am taking advantage of all this alone time to schedule quite a few blog posts in advance. It makes me feel so organized!

Next week on the blog:

A Discussion on Taking Control of my TBR Pile
A Top Ten List of My Favorite Authors
A review of Blondes by Emily Schultz
A review of The Lie by C.L. Taylor

How was your week?

  1. Aw man. That's tough. No internet, and no power? I was going to say at least you'll have plenty of time to read, but with your reading slump, I guess that wasn't in the cards either. But hey, you're out of it, so yay! Reading slumps are terrible. I've been in and out of it plenty of times in my life. Sigh.

    Have a great week!

    1. Thanks Joy! The upside to the Internet and power outages was that they forced me to get out of my slump. I just kept reading until something stuck. And there wasn't a whole lot else to do. :)

    1. Thanks so much Grace! I think she is pretty adorable too, but then again, I may be a bit biased. :) And yes, Amy Harmon is wonderful! The Law of Moses is probably one of my favorite books.

  5. No internet or power? That's a tough break... I'm pretty sure in my household that would result in everyone "catching" insanity :) Have a great week!

    1. Haha Ramona, you are so right. I think the children in my complex were going crazy. Luckily, when the power was out they weren't around. Things may have gotten insane then. :)

  6. I would love to get ahead with blogging and get some posts pre-scheduled as well but it never seems to happen. Uninterrupted reading time would be a bit lovely as well but I don't see that happening any time soon so I will just fit in what I can. Have a great week and I hope you enjoy the quiet time!!

  7. Lol, I think I go crazy without internet access that long!!

I always get more reading time when my hubby is on business trip too. However I'm having a decent month in reading so far. I finished reading 7 books by April 15th and am almost done with my 8th one now.

By the way, I've nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. See the following link for more information: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2015/04/versatile-blogger-award.html

  8. That's good news your landlord finally switched to a different internet provider, although having no internet for four days must have been horrible. I hope your internet will stay well for now. I can't imagine not having internet for hours or even days, that would drive me crazy, but then my work is one the internet so i need that internet to be able to work. And that picture of your dog is cute and sad at the same time. I love being ahead with blog posts, it makes me feel so organized! I hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks Lola! Luckily, my Internet is now back for good and it's a lot faster! Winning. :) Yeah, I feel so bad for my dog. It is cute, but she just doesn't understand why he isn't here. But we have been getting in some quality girl time. :) Have a great week too!

  9. You doggie pic is adorable and yes sad.

I use to love when my husband travelled a lot, and I could do whatever I wanted or noting at all. He retired 2 years ago, so the luxury is gone:(

    1. Thanks so much Diane! And there was a time when my husband traveled a LOT more. I missed him, but the alone time was great. With his new job, his travel for business is a lot more sporadic. I guess there is an upside and a downside. I am enjoying though, even though I miss him.

  10. Allora!! I hope the electrical situation stabilizes. I've never lost power in Europe but here in the states we do. My husband travels constantly. We don't have kids or live near family so it can be lonely. But, I have to say I am always happy when he is home!

    1. Oh yes, Steph I will be happy when he is home as well! Being gone for a week feels so much longer. After the first two or three days, I am ready for him to be home.

  12. Whoa, Naples, you need to get it together! No power, internet, or TV? Yeah, I would have gone crazy! That is so cute about your dog too :) I can't even think of the things I would do if I were alone for awhile... ah, the reading would be endless. Lots of sleep. Lots of crappy TV, yes, it would be heaven ;) Hope you have a wonderful week, and that all sources of power remain ON!

    1. Shannon, the crappy TV may be the best part! Endless amounts of shows that he doesn't like. Haha. I am just glad the power and the Internet situation seemed to have stabilized. And now that the Internet is on for good, it is so much faster. So it was worth it . . . kind of, maybe. Haha

  13. I'm glad you have the internet and your TV back. That would be awful! And aww...your poor dog. My dog does that sometimes too; it's adorable and sad at the same time, like you said. I need to get a lot of posts scheduled. I did really well and then I got behind again. Same old story. hah
