Friday Finds

Friday Finds is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading, where we show off books we recently added to our TBR list or books we recently purchased, borrowed, etc.

Since I had two Amazon gift cards burning a hole in my pocket, I wanted to share a few of the titles I purchased.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Looking for Alaska by John Green
The Chocolate Temptation by Laura Florand
Sun-Kissed by Laura Florand
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
Broken Monsters by Lauren Beukes
The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson
The Princess Bride by William Goldman
Infinity + One by Amy Harmon
The Young Elites by Marie Lu
Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson
Blubber by Judy Blume

Whew! I think that may be enough books to hold me. For a couple of weeks anyway.

Have you found any good books this week?

  4. I purchased 10 books with giftcards. Barnes and Noble doesn't have as much cheap books than Amazon.
I would really like what you think of Blubber. I haven't read a Judy Blume book in a while.
I bought a lot of books from a series I started but never finished and other favorites I don't have. A new one I bought is called All the Bright Places I believe. It sounds amazing!

    1. Thanks Adriana. I have heard amazing things about All the bright places. I hope you enjoy it! I have read Blubber before but not since junior high. I am interested to read it again and see if it is still amazing. I will do a review when I read it again. I am rereading it for my Banned Book Challenge.

  5. I had Broken Monsters from Netgalley and it is a bizarre story, but in a good way. The fault I found with the book, even though in her acknowledgements she thanks all of these people with help in getting our American speech down is that she didn't get it. Having Americans using British terms in dialogue, some, even though I am a big Britcom and Doctor Who viewer, I had never heard of before. It was an ARC so hopefully they fixed them. I really want Brown Girl Dreaming. I want to do a special post for Black history month. I already have Stella by Starlight and a biography ready to go, but I would like a second Fiction book. I went nuts with all of the $1.99 bargins! The biggest barging I found in the $1.99s was all 12 Anne of Green Gables in a set with 142 AoGG short stories. Great haul. Happy reading. :)

    1. Sounds like you did get a great haul! I just finished Brown Girl Dreaming and it was really good. I can see why it won an award. I would be interested in your post during Black History Month. I am excited to read Broken Monsters because I loved her last book The Shining Girls. I certainly hope they fixed some of the other issues. :)

  6. Um, AMAZING haul! I actually just bought two books from Book Outlet (only because I literally NEEDED them, AND I had $5 off, so it negated the shipping). I got The Kiss of Deception and The Book Thief, so I think those were good buys!

I LOVED Looking for Alaska, and cannot wait to read Fangirl! Hope you enjoy these!!
