TBR Tag!

The wonderful Olivia over at Brewing Up Books has nominated me for the TBR Tag!

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

Believe it or not, I have an Amazon wish list that remains private to everyone but me. Since I read mostly ebooks, it works out perfectly. Every month I have a "book" budget so I just pick what I want from the wish list!

Is your TBR mostly print or ebooks?

Mostly ebooks, I love my Kindle Fire!!

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

A combination of things, I guess. If I start reading a series, I will finish that before anything else. Sometimes it's just my mood, whether I am in the mood for something sad, funny, or scary. I have been known to scroll through my Kindle books and just pick one at random, even if I don't remember what it's about.

A book that has been on your TBR the longest?

Probably Jane Eyre; it was one of the many free books I downloaded on my Kindle when I first got it.

A book you recently added to your TBR?

The Last Orphans by N.W. Harrie

A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?

Skyscraping by Cordelia Jensen; It won't be released until June but I knew I wanted to read it when I saw the cover. It also has an interesting premise though so that helps!

A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading?

Well I don't know about never because what is the point of having TBR if you don't plan on reading it? But I think the one book I will put off the longest is War and Peace.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you're excited to read?

I Was Here by Gayle Foreman

Number of books in your TBR?

ebooks on my Amazon wish list - 260
print books on my Amazon wish list - 7
print books that I own and want to read - 5 (I think)
ebooks on my Kindle that I own and want to read (including ARCs) - 88

So the total amount of books on my TBR list is . . . 360. I guess that's not so bad, especially since I can read between 100 and 150 books in a year. The problem is by the time the year is over, I will have added five books to my TBR for every one I read. I exaggerate (slightly), but really that is a problem!

Who I'm Tagging

1. MizB at Should Be Reading

2. Lisa at Bookshelf Fantasies

3. Joy at Joyous Reads

4. Cleo at Cleopatra Loves Books

5. Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer

No pressure to the nominees and I am sorry if you have been tagged before!

Feel free to answer one of these questions for yourself in the comments. How many books are on your TBR? What book do you think you will hold off on reading the longest?

  1. Oh that's a pretty awesome way to keep track of your TBR pile! I'm actually not a fan of ebooks hah. The only time I go to use it when I wanna read a novella or for eARCs.

    I loved reading your responses!

    1. Thanks Melanie! I just realized how imperfect my Kindle was yesterday - power went out for two hours and my Kindle was only at 29%. Scary! Haha

  2. Thank you very much for the tag - love your answers and I have the same problem as you for the gaining more books than I manage to read each week!

    1. Thanks Cleo! I am trying to hard to refrain from buying too many books. Spoiler alert: it's not working. Haha

  3. My TBR is at around 700 books right now! I think part of this is because I didn't have much time to read while I was working on my undergraduate degree (I graduated May 2014) but I also have the same problem of gaining more books than I read. I hope to eventually read them all but if I don't at least I'll never run out of new books to read.

    1. Ahh, 700! Now I really don't feel bad about mine. Haha. Congrats on graduating! I remember that i didn't have too much time to read while I was in college either ( at least, not for pleasure).

  4. My TBR pile is uh err, out of control. I have a Nook, a Kindle and way to many bookshelves. In fact I often go to one-click only to be told it looks like I already own it. As for selecting what to read from them I like to flip through my e-reader library and see what speaks to me. I will try to do the tag but we are expecting a baby at any moment

    1. Kimba, Congrats on the baby! That is wonderful. I understand you may have just a few things ahead of the tag on your priority list. And I have done that exact same thing as you: try to buy it just to be told that I already own it. D'oh! :)

  5. Skyscraping is on my TBR too! Mine is basically a mess though. I do the Amazon wishlists like you, but then I have about 1100 books on my Goodreads TBR, which is insane. I have 158 physical books, and I don't even know how many on my Kindle but basically TONS. Too many books, not enough time!

    1. Ahh, Shannon 1100 books is crazy! Haha, I feel a bit better about mine now. Of course book blogging is very bad for my TBR. I am always finding new books to add to it.

  6. Your books owned and waiting to be read is about the same as mine. I'm afraid to even count the books on my TBR that I don't yet own but I do track them on GR. Blog blogging was the worst (and best!) thing that ever happened by TBR.
And yes that cover is FAB!

    1. Ahh, you are so right about book blogging Trish. Book blogs have introduced me to SO many books I would never have even heard of, let alone read. That is part of the reason why I add more books just as soon as I read some! Haha

    1. Camille, I hear that! Doing this tag is the only reason I even thought about it. Most of the time, I just keep adding books without regards to the number. Haha

  10. I totally have a "book" budget too, and find it extremely difficult to pick and choose one from my wishlist! Come February though, I'm going with Fairest! Have you read the Lunar Chronicles by the way?

    1. Claudia, no I have not read the Lunar Chronicles but I have heard such great things! I do have Cinder on my Kindle. I just haven't read it yet. But I will and I will probably binge read the others in the series once I do. :)

  11. I am a moodreader, although I noticed that since becoming a blogger I haven't read as many series back to back. I have some books that have been on my to-read list for ages it seems. While I love my Kobo e-reader I still have a lot of hardcopies that I own and still have to read.

    1. Lola, since I got my Kindle I read mostly ebooks. I am not that surprised I don't have more print books on my TBR. There are ones that have been on my list for a while too, especially since all these brand new books come out that I have to read RIGHT NOW. Haha

  12. I'm not a big fan of ebooks, but it seems as though reading mainly ebooks you're a much more organised reader! :)
